Let’s talk about Reiki.

  • Not as some fluffy, love-and-light illusion.

  • Not as a “woo” trend passed around like spiritual basketball.

  • But as something ancient. Something cellular. Something quietly powerful that too many people misunderstand, or never bother to take seriously.

So what is Reiki?

The Truth About Energy (Before We Even Get to Reiki)

Energy is not just a vibe.
It’s not just that high you get from a green smoothie or the spark when you meet someone new.

Energy is motion.
It’s change.
It’s the unseen force that animates atoms, drives cells, and moves mountains.

Every single thing that exists is vibrating. Including you. Including this screen. Including the thoughts you haven’t had yet.

Einstein knew it. Quantum physicists write papers on it. And yet, when energy shows up in healing, people start rolling their eyes.

Let’s ground it: Your heart has an electrical pulse (we measure it with an ECG). Your brain fires electromagnetic signals (hello, EEG). That’s energy. You don’t need to believe in unicorns to understand that.

Now enter Reiki.

What Reiki Actually Is (And What It Definitely Isn’t)

Reiki is not a belief system.
It doesn’t require you to convert, chant, or abandon logic.

Reiki is universal life-force energy.

The Japanese word breaks down like this:

  • Rei = Universal wisdom / higher knowledge

  • Ki = Life-force energy (the same as “Qi” in Chinese, or “Prana” in Indian philosophy)

It’s pronounced "Ray Key" and it’s not new. Humans have been tapping into life-force for centuries. Dr Mikao Usui just formalised it into a teachable method in the early 1900s.

Reiki is a hands-on (or hands-above) healing technique where a trained practitioner channels energy through their body into yours. It flows to where you need it most. That might be physical. That might be emotional. That might be something deeper you haven’t named yet.

You don’t need to do anything but show up. Your energy body does the rest.

How Reiki Actually Helps (Hint: It’s Not Just a Spa Day)

When your Ki is high and flowing freely, you feel clear, grounded, resilient.
You can think straight. Your body heals faster. You feel like yourself again.

But when your energy is low, stagnant or blocked?
That’s when the friction builds.

  • You feel tired but can’t sleep.

  • You’re emotional for no reason.

  • You can’t focus. Your digestion’s off. Everything feels... stuck.

Reiki acts like an energetic cleanse.
It breaks up blocks, replenishes your system, and supports your body’s natural healing response.

It’s not a replacement for medicine.
But it is a catalyst for healing. One that doesn’t come in pill form.

So, Is Reiki Real or Just a Placebo?

Here’s the inconvenient truth:
Most Reiki sceptics only distrust it because it doesn’t show up in a spreadsheet.

But healing isn’t always linear.
And not everything powerful can be boxed into a lab test.

Reiki has been used in NHS hospitals.
It’s offered at the Mayo Clinic.
It’s been researched in peer-reviewed journals.
And while results vary, there’s enough experiential and clinical data to say this:
It helps.

Even if all it did was relax your nervous system so your body could self-heal, wouldn’t that be enough?

Why I Trust Reiki (And Why You Can Too)

This isn’t theory for me.

I started this work because I’ve lived the chaos of not knowing where I was going. I’ve walked people through trauma, burnout, and identity collapse. I’ve trained in this for nearly a decade. I’ve seen people come back to themselves in ways no medication ever gave them.

And I practice Reiki in my own signature way.

I believe we all have access to this energy.
Not just practitioners. Not just “spiritual people”.
Everyone.

You don’t need attunements to tap in (like they tell you to - that’s just for marketing purposes).
You just need presence, permission, and the willingness to let it flow.

Final Word (Or Maybe a Beginning)

Reiki isn’t the answer to everything.
But it is a potent piece of the puzzle. Especially if you’re ready to move beyond symptom management and actually restore.

So if you’ve been:

  • Feeling drained for no reason

  • Holding trauma in your body

  • Lost in your head and numb in your body

Maybe it’s time to reconnect to your own life-force.

Because healing doesn’t always look like doing more.
Sometimes it looks like lying down, letting go, and letting Reiki remind your body how to feel safe again.

If you’re ready to learn Reiki, book a session, or just talk about it deeper, I’m here.
Let’s get your energy moving again.
